Protect your Spirit: Your Impact Depends on It

Protect your Spirit: Your Impact Depends on It

Protect your spirit, your impact depends on it. Whew, that whole entire sentence is a word! It’s a phrase that was spoken to me personally and required a lot of reflection.

When I personally think about what protecting your spirit means? I think about protecting your internal peace, energy, boundaries, confidence, boldness, and environment (what you allow in your space mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically). I’ll be the first to admit that it’s easy for self-doubt to creep in from many different environments and conversations around you especially when you decide to do a major accomplishment for yourself, such as writing your story and testimony into a book. This is when protecting your spirit is key.

So let’s start this blog post with how protecting your spirit impacts your “impact”?

Protecting your spirit is a key element to living a meaningful and fulfilling life. By taking the time to care for and nurture your inner self, you create a strong foundation for your mental, emotional, and physical health. This foundation allows you to be more present, engaged in life, and more likely to be productive and creative.

When you are able to prioritize your inner well-being, this helps you to stay focused. When your spirit is strong and cared for, it is easier to show up in your life with more energy and enthusiasm, make an impact in the world with your story and book, and be more present to the people and work that you are passionate about. Additionally, when you protect your spirit, you can better manage stress and difficult situations, giving you a better perspective to make meaningful contributions. Ultimately, protecting your spirit is an essential step in creating the life and impact that you desire.

Now let’s talk about how not protecting your spirit impacts your “impact”?

Not protecting your spirit and energy can lead to many different things in your life. When your spirit is unprotected, you can become vulnerable to negative outside influences that can lead to feelings of self-doubt, indecisiveness, anxiety, and even complete burnout.

What I have personally learned is that it can lead to physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion, which can prevent you from being able to use your energy and gifts in ways that are meaningful and impactful. This in turn can make it difficult to focus on the positive aspects of life and can make it hard to take action on your book-writing goals and vision. If you don't take time for self-care and honor your spirit, you can become overwhelmed and struggle to find a sense of purpose and passion in your writing.

Taking time to nurture and protect your spirit allows you to be present and focused on the task at hand, enabling you to make an impact in the world with your unique gifts, talents, and testimony.

A few ways you can protect your spirit and energy so that you can thrive in your impact.

  1. Connect with supportive people. Having positive relationships can help you feel energized and supported. Ask yourself what environments you feel you need to be a part of and which ones you need to start removing yourself away from?  It’s important to use your discernment on what to share and with who.
  2. Spend time in nature. Nature helps to restore and replenish your energy.
  3. Learn to say no. Taking on too many tasks can drain your energy and lead to burnout.

  4. Move in silence. Everyone does not need to know what you are doing at all times, sometimes it is best to move and then show results. Sometimes too much noise and opinions from others can cloud your mind and have you second-guessing your impact and your book.
  5. Connect with your spiritual side. Spend time connecting with your spiritual side to help you stay grounded and in tune with your inner energy. For me, this looks like praying, reading my bible, and journaling.
  6. Create healthy boundaries for yourself. This includes setting limits on how much time you give to others and activities that drain you and your spirit. Easier said than done but try to be mindful of the people and situations that you surround yourself with. Pay attention to the energy of others and choose relationships and activities that are positive and uplifting for you. Don't be afraid to step away from negative people or situations that can drain you.

In conclusion, I want to encourage you to protect your spirit, because your impact depends on it. I know firsthand how important it is to steward your energy well and be intentional about the spaces, people, thoughts, environments, and conversations that you allow into your life so that you don’t delay your impact from self-doubt, exhaustion, burnout, information overload, and negativity.

I’m rooting for you to be intentional and crazy about protecting the inner you. The world needs your impact!
